Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is advising motorists that work to repair an existing slide on Route 2079 Nichols Hill Road in Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County, will begin on Thursday, May 1, 2008.
To allow the necessary work to occur, Route 2079 Nichols Hill Road will be closed to thru-traffic around-the-clock beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday through late May 2008. Route 2079 Nichols Hill Road has been reduced to a single lane since the slide occurred several months ago between Fallen Timber Road and Route 2017 (Douglas Run Road). Signs are posted to guide motorists around the closed section of Route 2079 Nichols Hill Road. Traffic is being detoured using Fallen Timber Road, Blythedale Road and Douglas Run Road. The contractor performing the $50,000 slide repair is Michael Facchiano Contracting, Inc. of Pittsburgh, PA.
PennDOT advises motorists to be prepared for changing traffic patterns and possible delays when traveling through the area. Call 1-800 FIX ROAD to report roadway concerns.
