Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is advising motorists bridge inspection activities will occur next week on the Boulevard of the Allies (Route 885), Route 28, and the Parkway East (I-376) in Allegheny County. All work and restrictions will only occur between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations: 

• Monday, June 2, 2008 – Boulevard of the Allies, City of Pittsburgh
  • Closure of the right southbound (outbound toward Oakland) lane between the Liberty Bridge and the Parkway East
• Tuesday, June 3, 2008 – Northbound Route 28, Sharpsburg Borough
  • Bridge inspection of the bridge carrying Route 28 northbound over Pine Creek and the 62^nd bridge approaches. Right lane closures will take place.
• Wednesday, June 4, 2008 – Parkway East, Monroeville
  • Bridge inspection of the bridge carrying I-376 over Old William Penn Highway.  The eastbound right lane will be closed in the morning and the westbound right lane will be closed in the afternoon. 

All inspections will be carried out by personnel of the PennDOT District 11 Bridge Inspection Unit.  Traffic will be maintained by traffic control devices.  Motorists should be aware of narrow lane widths and use caution while traveling through these work zone areas.

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is pleased to announce a $3.2 million project to improve the Route 51 (Constitution Boulevard) Bridgewater Interchange in the Boroughs of Beaver and Bridgewater, Beaver County, will begin on Monday, June 2, 2008.

The project includes concrete patching and overlay on Route 51, a new ramp from Bridge Street to northbound Route 51, traffic signal upgrades, drainage repairs, guiderail, bridge deck repairs, and other improvements from the south end of the Beaver-Rochester Bridge to approximately 800 feet north of Bridge Street. 

Traffic on Route 51 will be reduced to single lane in each direction around-the-clock in the interchange area beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday. Various lane closures, detours and other restrictions will occur during the project. Additional information will be released as the project progresses. 

The prime contractor for the project is the John Gulisek Construction Company of Mt. Pleasant, PA. The project will be completed this fall. 

PennDOT advises motorists to use caution, slow down, and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area. Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is advising motorists that intermittent short-term shoulder closures and restrictions will occur on I-79 and I-279 (Parkway North) on Monday, June 2, 2008, in Allegheny County.

The restrictions are necessary as contractor crews conduct guide rail repairs. All exits will remain open. Work and restrictions will occur between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the following locations:

• I-79 Southbound, Wexford off-ramp (Exit 73): ramp width restricted 
• I-279 Southbound at Camp Horne Interchange (Exit 15): left shoulder closed
• I-279 Southbound, Camp Horne on-ramp (Exit 15): right shoulder closed

The prime contractor for the repairs is Green Acres Contracting, Inc. of Scottsdale, PA. PennDOT advises motorists to use caution and slow down when traveling through the area. Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is advising motorists the on-ramp from Route 910 to northbound Route 28 (Allegheny Valley Expressway) at the Harmar interchange (Exit 11) in Harmar Township, Allegheny County, will be closed around-the-clock this weekend, May 30-June 2, 2008, weather permitting.

Contractor crews will be performing concrete patching on the ramp. The closure will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday night, May 30, and will continue around-the-clock to 6 a.m. on Monday morning, June 2. Signs will be posted to guide motorists during the ramp closure.

The posted detour will be:

o       Southbound Route 28 to the RIDC interchange (Exit 10)

o       Exit and make left onto Gamma Drive

o       Re-enter northbound Route 28 

Motorists should be prepared for changing traffic patterns and allow extra time when traveling through the area.

The $35.8 million, 6.8 mile, improvement project on Route 28 in O'hara, Harmar, Springdale, Frazier, and East Deer townships, Allegheny County includes rehabilitation of 17 bridges and concrete patching and resurfacing on Route 28 in both directions from south of the Harmarville Interchange to the Russellton exit, widening to create a third northbound lane on Route 28 from the Harmarville Interchange to the Pittsburgh Mills and construction of two noise walls.
