Lake Erie Pub opens outside of security at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Now you can grab a bite or a beverage while waiting to pick up travelers.

Buffalo Niagara International Airport (March 2009) -- The Lake Erie Pub has opened pre-security at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Prior to this, no options existed for people to purchase alcoholic beverages or sit down to eat outside of the secure airport areas. The pub will offer a full bar and bar food type menu with sandwich, burger and wrap type items, with to go items also available. The pub will be open from 5am until the last arriving flight of the day.

Pittsburgh International Airport quietly raises its on-site parking rates

Pittsburgh International Airport (March 2, 2009) -- In case you hadn't noticed, those in charge of Pittsburgh International Airport parking have very quietly raised the parking rates. Shhhh ... they don't want you to know. There is no mention of it in the news area of the Pittsburgh International Airport web site, just a change they hope you won't notice on the airport parking web page and at the airport parking lot. Rates have been raised for short term parking (from $1/1st hour, $3/each add'l hour, $20/day to $1/1st hour, $3/each add'l hour, $21/day) and extended parking ($6.75/day to $8/day). Long term parking rates remain unchanged ($1.50/hr, $11/day). So essentially the only people who will really be effected by this are those that are trying to save a little money by parking in extended parking. Thanks! It's amazing how the powers that be have let Pittsburgh International Airport go from a hub with hundreds of flights a day to a pitiful excuse for a big city airport with only a fraction of that number of daily flights, and few cities served by nonstop flights. It's great to have to waste the entire day traveling, pretty much anywhere that you chose to go except maybe the major hubs. We always find this to be quite an enigma - city government wants to draw businesses here, but what business would want to set up its home in a city poorly served by airlines? I think we have seen the answer ....  and we appreciate this last little change to show us how much you really care. I know it's just a few bucks, but it's the thought that counts. No, really, keep up the good work!

A new airport wine bar, Memphis City Blues, is now open at Memphis International Airport

Memphis International Airport (March 2, 2009) – Located on the B concourse near Gate B-5 is Memphis City Blues, the new Memphis International Airport wine bar. Appetizers are also available. Details about the wines served are not available on the website, so if you visit, please post a comment to share your experience with others.

According to commercialappeal.com, Memphis City Blues also serves breakfast, a tapas menu, beer and mixed drinks and 38 wines by the glass. Wine flights are also available.
