Upscale Southern Themed Restaurant and Sushi Bar to Open at Atlanta Hartsfield - Jackson International Airport (ATL)

Atlanta Hartsfield - Jackson International Airport (ATL) (November 3, 2008) - Coming to the Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport (ATL) Terminal E this month (November, 2008) is a new upscale restaurant that will have a Southern theme to its food, as well as a Sushi Bar. [I bet you didn't know that Sushi was traditional Southern fare  ;-) -Gus]

The name of the restaurant is One Flew South. The people at Green Olive Media have pictures of the One Flew South restaurant as well as pictures of the some of the food that will be available at the restaurant on their web site. The restaurant itself has a website (http://www.oneflewsouthatl.com/) although as of Monday November 3, 2008, all that it had posted was a homepage with a logo. We assume there will be more to come? The menu is designed by Chefs Todd Richards and Duane Nutter, and will feature local and regional ingredients. Hopefully the website will provide more information and a menu in the near future, but it sounds worth checking out!

There are many artistic works distributed around the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport (ATL) to enjoy while you walk to your flight or during a layover or flight delay.

Before you enter the airport terminal, you will be greeted, at both the North and South Terminals, with large murals and suitcase sculptures. There are two youth galleries inside, one at the T-Gates centerpoint and another in the East Wing of Concourse E, and a wealth of other artworks awaiting your discovery throughout the complex.

Airport's Art program (partnership with Fernbank Museum of Natural History) is currently displaying a Yangchuanosaurus skeleton in Hartsfield-Jackson's Atrium.

Rotating Art is also displayed in the Airport's Atrium lobby area.

The project also includes display cases featuring carving tools, miniature sculptures, and several 5' X 7.5' photomurals showcasing Zimbabwe's people, landscape, and wildlife beauty.

Youth Art exhibit artworks from schools throughout the State of Georgia. The Youth Art is located between gates 12 and 14.

ART at Concourse E

Youth Art exhibit completed by students in grades K-12 - elementary, middle and high school students. The Youth Art is rotated every three months. All other exhibits on Concourse E are permanent.

Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson International Airport (ATL) will be seeing extensive new shopping options starting to pop up starting this September. There will be many new accessory stores, convenience and news stores and apparel shops. There will even be a place where you can view a live "panda-cam" from the Atlanta Zoo! It looks like quite an interesting line-up!

Atlanta International Airport (ATL) (August 5) – Starting in September passengers and visitors to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) will see the start of an expanded array of high-end and well-known products and services. The more than 70 new shops will enable the Airport to rightfully claim another positive attribute – an airport that is also an exciting shopping destination.

“Internationally recognized brands such as Blvgari, Salvatore Ferragamo, Sean John, Le Sport Sac, L’Occitane, Calvin Klein and Brooks Brothers are coming to the airport” said John Cugasi, Hartsfield-Jackson concessions director. “These brands are a part of the Airport’s new retail program designed to appeal to those who value a quality shopping environment. The shops will also reflect the rich cultural diversity that exists in Georgia.”

All Atlanta airport visitors, but especially native Georgians, will enjoy shopping at Georgia Aquarium, Savannah Candy Kitchen and Panda Veranda, a gift shop that will feature a live panda cam feed coming directly from Zoo Atlanta. Other stores having a Southern connection include Atlanta Daily World and Southern Living News, both newsstands.

“Our goal in opening these new shops is to not only meet the needs of our passengers and guests, but also provide them with a high-quality shopping experience,” said Cugasi. “The new shops will offer convenience, value and quality which we believe will meet the needs of both business and leisure travelers.”
