<div align="right">

</div><h5>Tips to avoid air and other travel delays during your Summertime Travel, from eXpectdelaYs.com.</h5>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">It's Summer! The weather's warm, the sun is out and your ready to go on vacation, or perhaps a nice business trip. Whatever you are planning, you
will probably have a more enjoyable time if your trip is delay free.
While I can't promise that you won't have a flight delay or that you
may wait in an airport security checkpoint line for a few minutes, or
find yourself in a little traffic, I can offer you a few tips to
minimize your travel delays. If you don't have time to read this whole article now, just remember to check the essentials on <b><a title="Check eXpect delaYs before you leave your house!" target="_blank" href="http://expectdelays.com">expectdelays.com</a></b> before you leave your house: </p><ul><li>Check your flight to make sure it's not delayed</li><li>Check traffic on the way to the airport</li><li>Check the wait time at security screening</li><li>Check parking lot status.</li></ul>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>Be flexible and save time!</b> If you have
any flexibility in your travel dates, you can decrease your chance of
flight delays, airport security screening wait times and other issues
that happen on high volume days. You can also save some money
traveling on less popular days and times as well. The days and times
that have the highest volume in part depend on what your origin and
destination cities are. For example, if your travel includes a place that
has a high volume of business travelers, then you would want to avoid
peak business travel times like Sunday afternoon/evening, Monday
morning and Friday. If your travel plans are to a vacation
destination, then some of the largest crowds will be due to people
taking weekend trips (Friday and Sunday travel days) and as you can
see, this is also the time that business travelers are at their peak
as well. Thus, traveling Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
are likely to get you the least crowds, and the possibly the best
prices as well.</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>Be flexible and save time in line!</b> Less
popular days and times may translate into shorter airport security
screening checkpoint wait times. Check the TSA's website to get <a href="http://waittime.tsa.dhs.gov/index.html" target="_blank" title="Security Check Point Wait Times (Historical Data)">historical information on airport security checkpoint wait
times</a> based on date from the past 30 days. Assuming that the airport
will be the least crowded when security wait times are the shortest,
you can also suspect that other lines you may encounter at the
airport, such as flight check-in, concessions, etc, may also be
shorter at these times as well. Remember, since these airport
security checkpoint wait times are based on the last 30 days of data,
they will more likely resemble the times that you will encounter as you get
closer to your travel date.</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>Be flexible and save money on flights!</b>
If you are flexible in your travel times and dates, you also may be
able to get less expensive flights. Check out sites like <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=znDOypcn6p8&offerid=120349.10000002&type=3&subid=0" target="_blank"><b><u>Hotwire.com</u></b></a><img width="1" height="1" border="0" src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=znDOypcn6p8&bids=120349.10000002&type=3&subid=0" />,
where, you choose the day that you want to travel, your origin and
destination airports, and they will offer you a cheap option on a
flight. The only catch is that they don't tell you the time of your flight or
airline until you purchase the ticket, but all you have to do is be
willing to fly on a flight that has 0-1 stops each way (departing and
returning) and a scheduled departure between 6am and 10pm and they
will give you a flight with confirmed seating -- you'll never fly
standby and you'll save money! You also have the choice of picking a
flight the usual way – you will know the airline and flight times
before you pay – but you will not get the big savings. If you like
to shop around for prices before you buy, then I recommend <b>Kayak.com</b>.
They don't sell airline tickets or hotel rooms themselves, but they
do search a whole bunch of other travel, hotel and airline sites for
you, to help you find the best price. Check Kayak.com out to <b><a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=znDOypcn6p8&offerid=100094.10000006&type=3&subid=0" target="_blank">Find Cheap Flights from 100+ Sites with One Click.</a><img width="1" height="1" border="0" src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=znDOypcn6p8&bids=100094.10000006&type=3&subid=0" /></b></p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>Be flexible and save on hotels!</b>
<a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=znDOypcn6p8&offerid=120349.10000002&type=3&subid=0" target="_blank"><b><u>Hotwire.com</u></b></a><img width="1" height="1" border="0" src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=znDOypcn6p8&bids=120349.10000002&type=3&subid=0" /> is also a great place to go to save money on hotels. You
choose the day and place that you need a hotel room, and they will
give you a list of hotels to choose from. The only catch is that you
won't know the exact hotel until you pay, but you will know the
hotel's star rating and amenities before you buy, so you will have some idea what to
expect. I have used their service many times and it has always worked
out well. Same as for airline tickets, if you want to shop around
before you buy, then let <b>Kayak.com</b> look at a bunch of web sites for
you to find hotel availability and the best hotel rates. Follow this link to have Kayak.com find you great hotel rates and <b><a target="_blank" href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=znDOypcn6p8&offerid=100094.10000003&type=3&subid=0">Discount Hotels</a><img width="1" height="1" border="0" src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=znDOypcn6p8&bids=100094.10000003&type=3&subid=0" /></b></p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><b></b></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>Pack Light and save time and money! </b>Now that many airlines have added fees even for your first piece of checked luggage (many will take effect in August), and the extra bag fees and overweight bag fees have become really expensive, it really &quot;pays&quot; to pack lightly. If you can get away with a carry-on bag only, go for it! If you pack only the essentials, plan to do a little washing in the sink, and bring versatile shoes, it is amazing how little you can actually bring on a trip. Just be sure to pay attention to the restrictions on what you can pack in a carry-on bag, especially regarding liquids (see <a href="#prepared"><b>Be prepared, and don't wait in line!</b></a> below). Carrying on your bags saves the time you have to wait to check them in, and probably more importantly, the time you have to wait to retrieve them. The trade off is that with more people carrying on their luggage, it may take a little longer to get flights boarded, and the overhead storage space may fill up, so you may wind up having to check your bag at the gate if there is no room to accomodate it in the cabin. If you are checking a bag, then do your best to follow your airline's baggage weight, number and size restrictions because having to pay extra fees will cost you in both money and time. Many of the airlines are planning on enabling you to pay the initial luggage fees at the time you purchase your ticket, which can save you time, as long as you do not incur any additional fees that you will have to pay at check-in such as your bag being oversized or overweight.</p>

<p><a name="prepared"></a><b>Be prepared, and don't wait in line!</b> If
you are not planning on checking baggage on your flight, and are only
going to have a “carry-on” then it really pays to check-in for
your flight on-line before you head to the airport. Just go to your airline's web site, and
there is generally a link on their home page. You can select
your seats and print out your boarding pass at home, and then just
head straight to the airport security screening line. Just be sure
that you have checked the limitations on how large your carry-on may
be, and what is allowed through security screening and any special
preparations that need to be made (such as all of your liquids being
in 3 oz bottles in a 1 quart plastic bag). Check the TSA's website for <b><a title="TSA Security Information For Travelers" target="_blank" href="http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/index.shtm">up-to-date restrictions on what you can bring through the airport security checkpoint</a></b>,
and your airline's website for restrictions on the size and number of
carry on items allowed per person.
</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>Check for flight delays!</b> Before you
leave for the airport, check on your flight to make sure there has
been no change in flight schedule or a flight delay. That's easy to do right from our home page,
<b><a title="eXpect delaYs Home Page" target="_blank" href="http://expectdelays.com">http://expectdelays.com</a></b>. Either choose the city you are traveling
from or use the <b><a title="Flight Status Search" target="_blank" href="http://expectdelays.com/#AirTravel">Flight Status search box on our home page</a></b>.
Also always check security wait times, traffic and weather before you
leave the house and check out our <b><a title="Tips for Avoiding Air Travel Delays" target="_blank" href="http://expectdelays.com/cblog/index.php?/archives/22-Tips-for-Avoiding-Air-Travel-Delays.html">Tips for Avoiding Air Travel Delays</a></b> for additional suggestions</p><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>Make sure there's a space for your car! </b>Many airports have real-time parking lot status where you can check the number of spaces available in each lot to help you plan where to park as well as how much time you will need. Just follow the parking links that we provide for each city on <b><a href="http://expectdelays.com" target="_blank" title="Click here to get to eXpect delaYs home page">http://expectdelays.com</a></b>.</p>

<p><b>Pack a little snack!</b> If you encounter a delay, especially if you
are unfortunate enough to get stuck in traffic or are sitting inside
a plane waiting to take off or for a gate, you will be happy that you
packed something to eat, such as an energy bar, fruit or a sandwich
(that doesn't require refrigeration). I always make sure that I buy a
bottle of water once I am through security as well, so that I always
have something to drink. If you remain well hydrated and you aren't
hungry, you will be able to better withstand travel and flight
delays.</p>
<p><b>Bring something to pass the time!</b> Make sure you have your music
player of choice, a book, magazine, computer or PDA so that you have
something to do should you have a delay. Waiting is much more
tolerable if you have something to pass the times.</p>
<p><b>Don't get lost!</b> If you are renting a car at you destination and
you don't know your way around, save yourself some time and
aggravation and be sure to plan ahead. Map the route from the airport
to the hotel ahead of time, and to any destinations (restaurants,
beaches, etc) that you might want to go to. Better yet, bring a GPS
or rent a car with one. Bringing a map is also a good idea. The extra
time and/or money invested before your trip will give you more time
to have fun on your vacation. Also, don't forget to plan your route back to the airport, taking into account travel time for the time of day (i.e. rush hour, etc), so that the finale of your trip can also be stress free. You can check traffic right here on <a href="http://expectdelays.com" target="_blank" title="Check traffic on eXpect delaYs!">expectdelays.com</a>!</p>
<p><b>Stop that Growling Stomach!</b> Investigate your dining choices ahead
of time. If there is a restaurant that you would like to go to during
a busy travel week, or on a Friday or Saturday night, save yourself
from disappointment by making a reservation either before you leave
or as soon as you get to your destination. Many restaurants take
reservations on-line, but if they don't, with long-distance charges
now cheap, spend a few cents and give them a call.</p>
<p><b>A little research goes a long way!</b> Check out attractions and
activities at your destination ahead of time in either a travel guide
book or on-line. If you have a few ideas of places you want to go to
and things that you would like to do ahead of time, you'll be able to spend more
time actually doing them!</p>
<h5>We can't guarantee you a delay free vacation, but with these tips
you should be able to spend more time enjoying your time away!
Remember, if you eXpect delaYs, you can beat them!</h5>
<p>Happy Travels!</p>

July 12, 2008 -- The Airport Marriott Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA is
excited about the possibilities that will come with the expansion of a
new bike trail from Washington, D.C. to the Pittsburgh International
Airport. </p>
<p>
Officials hope to open a link between the Montour Trail and the airport
by late fall or early spring. The new bike trail will start at a
five-way intersection near the trail's Enlow Tunnel and will follow
portions of old Route 978 and Clinton Road to a former airport
construction access road that runs directly into the terminal complex.
The project has been in development since 1999, but planning was put on
hold after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, because of
security concerns. But now the project is back on and excitement is
building around Pittsburgh in anticipation for the opening of the link.
</p>
<p>
At present, the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott is located at the start of
the bike trail. Unlike other hotels in the area, this luxury Pittsburgh
airport hotel offers convenient access to bicyclists looking to spend
the night prior to embarking on the approximately 200 mile journey to
D.C., so, come and ride the bike trail, and start your journey at the
Pittsburgh Airport Marriott.

<h5>A major fear of many air travelers is what would happen at the airport if one has lost their drivers license or other form of ID. A search of the TSA's website turned up scant information on this subject. While more details may be there somewhere, one would think this would be easy to find for the panic-stricken traveler who discovers that their ID, drivers license or passport has gone missing moments before a flight. We have found some information on the web that might help as well. Note that this information would likely only help for domestic travel. If you are traveling internationally and have lost your passport / visa, these tips would probably not help and you would need to get a replacement.</h5><p>If you lose your ID before boarding a domestic flight, you will still be able to travel on your flight, according to two recent articles siting a TSA source, and the TSA website. According to the articles, you show up for your flight early to allow extra time, and explain your situation to the TSA agent at the security checkpoint. They will have you fill out some paperwork, and then you may be subject to additional interviews and search / screening, but you will probably be on your way in a relatively short time.</p><p>It may also be helpful if you have some additional forms of ID, such as a photo credit card, or photocopies of your drivers license or passport. These will not substitute for your real ID, but may help expedite the process.</p><p>A <a title="TSA article about rufusing to show ID at airport checkpoints and lost ID" target="_blank" href="http://www.tsa.gov/press/happenings/enhance_id_requirements.shtm">recent posting</a> (June 23, 2008) on the TSA website does somewhat address this issue without giving the specifics:</p><h4>TSA Announces Enhancements to Airport ID Requirements to Increase Safety</h4><p><i>Beginning Saturday, June 21, 2008 passengers that willfully refuse
to provide identification at security checkpoint will be denied access
to the secure area of airports. This change will apply exclusively to
individuals that simply refuse to provide any identification or assist
transportation security officers in ascertaining their identity.</i></p>

<p><i>This new procedure will not affect passengers that may have
misplaced, lost or otherwise do not have ID but are cooperative with
officers. Cooperative passengers without ID may be subjected to
additional screening protocols, including enhanced physical screening,
enhanced carry-on and/or checked baggage screening, interviews with
behavior detection or law enforcement officers and other measures.</i></p>

<p><i>Under the law that created TSA, the Aviation and Transportation
Security Act, the TSA administrator is responsible for overseeing
aviation security (P.L. 107-71) and has the authority to establish
security procedures at airports (49 C.F.R. § 1540.107). Passengers that
fail to comply with security procedures may be prohibited from entering
the secure area of airports to catch their flight (49 C.F.R. §
1540.105(a)(2).</i></p>

<p><i>This initiative is the latest in a series designed to facilitate
travel for legitimate passengers while enhancing the agency's
risk-based focus - on people, not things. Positively identifying
passengers is an important tool in our multi-layered approach to
security and one that we have significantly bolstered during the past
18 months.</i></p><p /><p>A few helpful articles (which are basically identical):</p><p><a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/06/27/AR2008062701309.html" target="_blank" title="Read the article about ID verification from Washington Post">No ID? <h5>The Ponemon institute recently conducted a study sponsored by Dell looking at laptop and data loss by travelers at airports. </h5><p>June 30, 2008 - The Ponemon Institute recently released the results of a study regarding laptop and data loss in airports, and the policies and attitudes pertaining to these losses. The study is entitled: Airport Insecurity: The Case of Lost Laptops. You may have seen the headlines in the paper and on the web the past few days &quot;12000 Laptops Lost At Airports Each Week&quot;. While this is the most shocking and most quoted portion of the study, the results are frightening and surprising - particularly with regard to the attitudes of people towards the data on their computers. A surprising number do not back up their data or secure their sensitive data. While the number of laptops lost at an airport seems to be at least in part a reflection of how busy the airport is, the top 5 large airports for weekly laptop loss are:LAX, Miami International, JFK, Chicago Ohare and Newark Liberty International Airport. The security checkpoint followed by the departure gate were the sites where laptops are most frequently lost. Other surprising results are that 67% of lost laptops are never recovered, and that only 1% of survey respondants has lost a laptop, yet 84% of respondants know someone who has lost a laptop. Hmmm...</p><p>For full details, you can read the actual report here: <a href="http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/services/dell_lost_laptop_study.pdf" target="_blank" title="Read the full story about laptop and data loss here">http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/services/dell_lost_laptop_study.pdf</a></p><p>Remember - If you eXpect delaYs, you can beat them!<br />Happy Travels<br /> - Gus<br /><a href="http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/services/dell_lost_laptop_study.pdf" target="_blank" title="Read the full story about laptop and data loss here"></a></p><p />

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">(Los Angeles, California – July 2,
2008) <b>LAX </b>and the surrounding area were brought to a virtual stand
still Tuesday morning when a man walked up to a Los Angeles World
Airport Police Officer and said that he was carrying a bomb and
planned to detonate in front of the Tom Bradley Terminal.
</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">On July 2, 2008, at around 11:00 a.m.,
27-year-old Scott Juhun Lee walked up to a police officer at the Los
AngelesInternationalAirport and told the officer that he was going to
detonate a bomb. Lee was immediately detained and a mass evacuation
of a large section of the airport began. The evacuation and
subsequent investigation involved officials from Federal, State, and
Local agencies.
</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">After a careful and extensive
investigation it was determined that Lee did not possess an explosive
device. Lee was arrested and booked for Making a False Bomb Threat.
He is being held at Twins Towers Jail on $20,000 bail.
</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Investigators believe that Lee had
driven his car to the airport and parked at an offsite parking lot,
having made a reservation on an international airline. It is unclear
why Lee changed his plans and made this threat.

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">The Los Angeles Police Department,

handling the investigation. Anyone with information can call

Another stated, “You are an oasis of tranquility. I’ve always wondered why good choices are so limited at US airports…you’ve changed that. Please open more!”</p><p>Vino Volo has arrived at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). This will add to the list of highly successful locations Vino Volo currently operates. Nationwide you can discover great wines at the Vino Volo in <b>Washington DC’s Dulles International Airport’s (IAD) </b>Concourse C, <b>Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s (SEA)</b> Central Terminal Marketplace, <b>Sacramento International Airport’s (SMF)</b> Terminal A, <b>Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport’s (BWI)</b> Terminal A, <b>New York’s JFK International Airport’s (JFK) </b>Terminal 8, and <b>Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL)</b> B/C Connector.</p><p>Each Vino Volo store combines a cozy wine lounge and restaurant, a tasting bar, and a boutique wine retail area into a sophisticated, post-security retreat for air travelers. “Vino Volo is a completely new concept in wine retail and travel. We provide a unique wine tasting opportunity for air travelers looking for a place to spend their time before boarding,” said Doug Tomlinson, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vino Volo. “We have completely reinvented the pre-travel experience at the airport by offering our guests a comfortable refuge while allowing them to taste and buy extraordinary wines at all price points. We select what we think are the best wines in each price category and organize them into tasting flights.”</p>Vino Volo (derived from “wine flight” in Italian) offers hand-selected wines from around the world by the glass, in themed tasting flights of small pours, and by the bottle for retail customers to take home or have shipped. The first Vino Volo debuted in September, 2005 at Washington DC’s Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Vino Volo plans to open several dozen more stores in airports across the country in the next five years. Each Vino Volo store will be approximately 1,000-2,000 square feet and will offer air travelers:<br />- a sophisticated retreat from the hectic airport environment<br />- fun and interactive wine tastings<br />- small-plate gourmet food pairings, with a packaged “to-go” option<br />- wine and wine-related merchandise to take or ship home<br />Customer service is a cornerstone of Vino Volo’s strategy, and Vino Volo invests heavily in educating its talented staff to make wine approachable. A highly trained team of Wine Associates helps guests explore and enjoy Vino Volo’s wines. The company also has a patented tasting framework to ease customers through the wine discovery process. Vino Volo is redefining service in airports, recently ranking #1 in customer service among over 900 airport stores mystery shopped, and winning the highly coveted airport industry award for “Highest Regard for Customer Service” in both 2007 and 2008.<br /><p>Every Vino Volo location offers elegant small plates to pair with the wines. Diners enjoy items such as locally produced artisan cheeses, dry cured meats, and smoked salmon rolls wrapped around crab meat drizzled with crème fraiche. All of Vino Volo’s dishes are available for guests to enjoy in the lounge or to carry with them onto their flight.</p>Vino Volo’s focused approach to wine is visible in its list of 25-40 hand-selected wines organized into themed tasting flights of two or three glasses each, including a “Sommelier Series” tasting flight of two extraordinary wines. The list of wine flights rotates regularly. The following are examples of the tasting flights that might appear on the menu:<br />- World Value Reds – value reds from Spain, Chile and Australia<br />- California Kings – regal Cabernet, Merlot and Zinfandel from California<br />- Shades of White – top picks for Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio<br />- Sommelier Series – two of the finest reds from Bordeaux and Napa Valley<br />- World Noirs – Pinot Noirs from around the world - New Zealand, California and Burgundy<br />- Great Lakes Whites – a selection of Michigan’s best whites<br />- Summer Whites – northern Rhone favorites of Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier<br />- Celebration Sparklers – outstanding selections of festive bubbles<br />Additional featured flights highlight local wine regions:<br />- Washington DC store: Taste of Virginia – local favorites that would make Thomas Jefferson proud<br />- Seattle store: Yakima Valley Whites – stellar selections from Washington wineries<br />- Sacramento store: Sierra Reds – Zinfandel, Syrah and Barbera from the Sierra foothills<br />- Baltimore store: Mid-Atlantic Tour – three great wines from Mid-Atlantic wineries<br />- New York store: I Love New York – top picks from Hudson Valley, Finger Lakes &amp; Long Island<br />- Philadelphia store: Brotherly Love Blends – selections from three Pennsylvania wine regions<br /><p>Every wine selection is available by the taste, by the glass, by the bottle, or in a tasting flight, with prices ranging from $6 to $14 per glass or tasting flight, up to the first class splurge flight “Sommelier Series”. </p>Wines are also available through Vino Volo’s website at www.vinovolo.com. <title type="html">American Airlines And American Eagle Announce Additional Details Of Fourth Quarter Capacity Cuts</title>
        <content type="xhtml" xml:base="http://expectdelays.com/cblog/">
            <div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<h5><strong> Service Reduction At LaGuardia, The Nation's Most Congested Airport, Intended To Help Reduce Delays For All Passengers  </strong></h5><p> FORT WORTH , Texas - June 25, 2008 – <b>American Airlines</b> and its regional affiliate,
American Eagle, today announced additional details of their capacity
reductions for the fourth quarter of 2008. The reductions are in line
with American’s previously announced (May 21) plans of cutting fourth
quarter domestic capacity by 11 to 12 percent and regional affiliate
capacity by 10 to 11 percent versus fourth quarter 2007 levels. The
changes are being instituted to reduce costs and create a more
sustainable supply-and-demand balance in today’s high fuel-cost
environment.</p>
<p> Today’s announced reductions involve additional schedule changes
taking effect in November. Previously announced (May 27) reductions
will take effect in September.</p>
<p> American is reducing flights at most of its principal operations.
This announcement, combined with the previously announced round of
schedule reductions, means American will close its operations entirely
at three of its airports, while Eagle will close five of its airports,
out of a combined total of 250 airports for both. The airports/cities
being closed are:</p>
<ul><li> American – Oakland, Calif. (previously announced); London Stansted (previously announced); and Barranquilla , Colombia</li><li>
American Eagle – Albany, N.Y.; Providence, R.I.; Harrisburg, Pa.;
Samana, Dominican Republic (previously announced); and San Luis Obispo,
Calif. American Eagle will also close its maintenance base in San Luis
Obispo.</li></ul>
<p> American plans to reduce its departures in Chicago by 28 flights
with American Eagle reducing 34 departures. In St. Louis, American will
reduce departures by 8 flights with American Eagle and
AmericanConnection reducing 35 departures. American will reduce 19
departures at Dallas/Fort Worth along with 23 American Eagle flight
reductions.</p>
<p> The company also has decided to eliminate five AA flights and 37
American Eagle jet departures at <b>LaGuardia Airport.</b> In addition to the
expected cost savings, these changes, coupled with appropriate
government action, could allow the airport to operate with less chronic
disruption and improve customer experience at one of the nation’s most
congested airports.</p>
<p> “Today, the dependability and delay issues that exist at LaGuardia
have reached a crisis point and have a daily negative impact on the
overall customer service and performance for every airline with flights
at LaGuardia,” said Bob Reding, American’s Executive Vice President –
Operations.</p>
<p> Historical data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics on
operational performance at LaGuardia highlights the issues. During the
last five years, for example, delays at LaGuardia have increased 50
percent and now occur on one out of every four departures, with these
delays averaging more than one hour. In large part, these delays are
attributable to Air Traffic Control’s inability to handle the scheduled
service levels.</p>
<p> American and American Eagle regret the potential impact these
schedule changes will have on its people. The company is in the process
of determining the overall impact on its employees, and it is the
company’s intent to offer voluntary programs before moving to
involuntary separations.</p>

<h5>More fallout from the new baggage fees - US Airways airport skycaps lose their jobs</h5><p><i>July 1, 2008</i> - As <b>US Airways</b> begins to institute additional baggage fees ($15 for the first checked bag) they will replace the current skycaps with unionized airline employees. This change appears to be due to contract issues regarding the collection of fees. In addition to the new baggage fees, they will still charge $2 per bag for curb-side check-in, so don't worry you still get to pay more than the folks who go inside for this &quot;convenience&quot;. It is not clear if there will be any delays in the conversion from curbside skycaps to curbside airline employees,  but just to be safe we suggest you allow a little more time during the transition in case you find that you need to go inside. This is in addition to the extra time we suggest you allow while the airlines transition to collecting these additional baggage charges overall. Some of the airports to affected are: Pittsburgh International Airport, Philadelphia International Airport, DFW, Boston Logan International Airport.<br /> </p><p>Don't worry - the good news with respect to the lines is that with fewer flights and higher prices, there's a chance there will be fewer people waiting to pay these charges!</p><p>Remember, if you eXpect delaYs you can beat them!<br />Happy Travels!<br />-Gus<br /></p>

<title type="html">Continental Airlines and United Airlines Announce Comprehensive Plan for Global Cooperation; Continental Plans to Join Star Alliance</title>
        <content type="xhtml" xml:base="http://expectdelays.com/cblog/">
            <div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

<span class="ccbnTtl"></span><span class="ccbnTxt"><p> <b>CHICAGO</b>, June 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- <b>Continental Airlines
</b>(NYSE: CAL) and <b>United Airlines</b> (Nasdaq: UAUA) today announced a framework
agreement to cooperate extensively, linking their networks and services
worldwide to the benefit of customers, and creating revenue opportunities and
cost savings and other efficiencies. In addition, <i>Continental plans to join
United in the Star Alliance</i>, the most comprehensive airline alliance in the
world.</p>
<p> &quot;Continental's plan to partner with United and join the Star Alliance will
provide substantial new opportunities for all of our customers,&quot; said Larry
Kellner, chairman and CEO of Continental. &quot; In a network business, there is
significant value gained from linking with larger networks to provide truly
national coverage and expanded global reach, and exploring new ways to reduce
costs and improve efficiencies. As we experience some of the most challenging
conditions airlines have ever faced, we look forward to the benefits of a new
relationship with United and the other Star Alliance members.&quot;</p>
<p> Teams from the two organizations worked intensively over the last several
weeks exploring creative solutions for how the two companies could achieve
efficiencies and synergies that expand beyond the well-established benefits of
codesharing. Their work focused on plans for significant cooperation on
frequent flier programs, lounges, facility utilization, information technology
and procurement. This work was assisted by the efficiency opportunities
identified and relationships developed during the parties' earlier merger
discussions.</p><br /><p> Antitrust Immunized Joint Ventures</p>
<p> Through this new partnership, Continental and United plan to establish
joint ventures allowing them to cooperate with each other and with other Star
Alliance airlines in international regions and compete more effectively in an
increasingly global air travel market.</p>
<p> Initially, Continental will request the U.S. Department of Transportation
(DOT) to allow it to join United -- along with Lufthansa, Air Canada and six
other carriers -- in their already established antitrust immunized alliance.
This will enable Continental, United, Lufthansa, Air Canada and other
immunized Star Alliance carriers to work closely together as other antitrust
immunized alliances do, and to establish trans-Atlantic and other
international joint ventures so they can deliver highly competitive flight
schedules, fares and service. The planned trans-Atlantic joint venture, in
which Continental, United, Lufthansa and Air Canada will pool revenue, will
permit the carriers to compete more effectively with the proposed joint
venture involving certain SkyTeam members that was recently granted antitrust
immunity. The trans-Atlantic joint venture will combine the strength of the
carriers to create a more efficient and comprehensive trans-Atlantic network
for the carriers' customers.</p>
<p> Joint ventures are also planned for the Latin America and Asia/Pacific
regions, involving Continental, United and other members of the Star Alliance.
Both antitrust immunity and code-sharing are subject to receipt of approvals
from applicable national authorities.</p>
<p> Domestic Codesharing and Frequent Flier/Lounge Reciprocity</p>
<p> Continental's and United's route networks are highly complementary, with
little overlap, so they add value to each other and to customers who are
planning domestic and international itineraries.</p>
<p> In the United States domestic market, where antitrust immunity for solely
domestic travel would not apply, the two airlines plan to begin broad
code-sharing, which facilitates the creation of itineraries using both
carriers, as well as frequent Flier program, elite customer recognition and
airport lounge reciprocity. These cooperative activities are subject to
regulatory notice to applicable authorities and Continental exiting certain of
its current alliance relationships. Under code-sharing, customers will benefit
from a coordinated process for reservations/ticketing, check-in, flight
connections and baggage transfer.</p>
<p> Frequent flier reciprocity will allow members of Continental's OnePass
program and United's Mileage Plus program to earn miles in their accounts when
flying on either partner airline and redeem awards on both carriers. Travel on
either carrier will count toward elite customer recognition. Similarly, each
carrier's customers will have access to both Continental's Presidents Club
network and United's Red Carpet Club network of airport lounges.</p>
<p> Continental Joining Star Alliance</p>
<p> Continental's plans to join the Star Alliance and the other planned
cooperation are subject to receipt of certain regulatory and other approvals
and the termination of certain contractual relationships, including
Continental's existing agreements with SkyTeam members that restrict its
participation in another global alliance. Continental intends to terminate its
existing agreements with SkyTeam members and obtain the necessary approvals to
enter the Star Alliance, although Continental may not be successful, and the
time period for doing so may be out of Continental's control. For example, a
principal contractual restriction will not terminate until nine months after
the closing of the proposed Delta/Northwest merger. Continental intends to
transition out of SkyTeam and into the Star Alliance in a customer friendly
manner.</p>
<p> Joining the Star Alliance will connect Continental with United and 19
other airlines around the world. Within Star, frequent Fliers enjoy
reciprocity with respect to both mileage accrual and redemption among the
member airlines. The airlines also reciprocally recognize elite status, and
provide access to the worldwide network of lounges operated by the Star
Alliance airlines.</p>
<p> About the Star Alliance</p>
<p> The Star Alliance network was established in 1997 as the first truly
global airline alliance to offer customers worldwide reach and a smooth travel
experience. Star Alliance received the Air Transport World Market Leadership
Award in 2008 and was voted Best Airline Alliance by Business Traveller
Magazine in 2003, 2006 and 2007 and by Skytrax in 2003, 2005 and 2007. The
members are Air Canada, Air China, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines,
Austrian, bmi, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Shanghai
Airlines, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Spanair, SWISS, TAP
Portugal, Turkish Airlines, THAI, United and US Airways. Regional member
carriers Adria Airways (Slovenia), Blue1 (Finland) and Croatia Airlines
enhance the global network. Air India and EgyptAir have been accepted as
future members. Overall, the Star Alliance network offers nearly 18,000 daily
flights to 965 destinations in 162 countries.</p>

<h5><i><font size="2">It's soon going to be worth
the trip to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport just for the food.
With Anderson's Frozen Custard (also famous for “Beef on a Weck”)
and the Anchor Bar (the “Home of the original Buffalo Chicken
Wings”) coming in about a year, you just need to make a quick trip to the airport to enjoy some of
Buffalo's most famous food.</font></i></h5>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font size="2"><b>Buffalo, NY</b> (May/June 2008) -- <b>Anderson's</b>, <b>Villa Pizza</b>,
<b>Checkers</b>, <b>Freshens </b>and even <b>The Anchor Bar</b> will now have a permanent
place at the airport, so travelers can enjoy their famous wings.
These restaurants are joining the menu at the Buffalo Niagara
International Airport as part of a sweeping concessions makeover that
will include a sit-down food court. The new food court will be
situated just beyond the new security checkpoint in the East
Concourse. These restaurants should be available for your enjoyment
in about a year. Anderson's will find a home in what is now Jake's
Bistro &amp; News, near Gate 21. &quot; We want to provide a great
airport experience, but also make it a hometown experience,&quot;
said Nicholas Biello, chief operating officer of Delaware North's
Travel Hospitality Services division. The 10-year-old airport's
security checkpoint is also getting a $7.2 million relocation and
expansion as part of the changes. </font>
</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font size="2">Delaware North, which
oversees food and retail services at more than 30 airports worldwide,
conducted an in-airport survey to determine the best menu mix. Work
is already under way to create the Blue Zone, a bar/restaurant that
will target passengers using Gates 1-4. New dining options will also
