Major Chicago Conventions, Meetings and Events

If you have any flexibility in the dates on which you wish to travel, it is always best to make sure you are not choosing a time to go to a city during a major convention or other major event (unless, of course, that is the reason that you are going!). Chicago can have a number of large gatherings each year, but also be wary of the weeks where there are multiple intermediate sized conventions or other major events, including sporting events, festivals, concerts and parades. Chicago has a large amount of hotel rooms, however prices and availability can be effected during a large Chicago convention or major Chicago event. In addition, the effect on Chicago's O'hare International Airport and Chicago's Midway Airport, flight delays and flight overbooking, traffic, cabs and shuttles can effect your travels, and increased volume can also translate into increased time and cost. If a Chicago event is occurring in the part of the city where you are heading, traffic can be significant.
